Youth for alternatives to single-use plastic in small-scale farming in Armenia 2024
Goal: Contribute to the reduction of plastic pollution in Armenia and protection of human health and the environment.
Specific Objectives:
(1) Promote alternatives to single-use plastics in small-scale farming through community engagement for identification of at least one viable solution per target village.
(2) Raise awareness of small-scale farmers, private sector, community leaders in target villages about the health and environmental impacts of plastics in agriculture and the availability of alternatives, especially for single-use items.

“Youth for alternatives to single-use plastic in small-scale farming in Armenia” workshop
On October 8, 2024, a workshop entitled “Youth for alternatives to single-use plastic in small-scale farming in Armenia” was held in the Solak Women Agriculture Center of Kotayk Province, Armenia. Secondary school students of Jrarat, Lernanist and Solak settlements of Kotayk Province took part in the event along with their teachers and parents. The main idea is to encourage innovative thinking about alternatives to single-use plastics in agriculture. The youth involvement is key to successful innovation.
On November 26, 2024, an exhibition titled “Youth for Alternatives to Single-Use Plastics in Small-Scale Farming in Armenia” was held at the “Orran” complex in the village of Solak, Kotayk Province, Armenia. The event was attended by students from the aforementioned schools in Kotayk Province, along with their teachers and parents. Women entrepreneurs were also present.
During the exhibition, alternatives to plastics were showcased, and a lively exchange of ideas took place regarding various plastic products and their substitutes. Flowers were planted in alternative flowerpots as part of the event. Additionally, group activities were conducted, where participants painted eco-bags with environmental messages.
